“The characters in this film do not talk about “victory,” or “winning” or the politics of the situation in which they find themselves. Indeed, given the everyday situations these soldiers experience, notions of victory seem almost laughable.”
I highly agree with the statement in regards to the film and current events as the situation in Iraq ultimately proves to escalate. The soldiers merely count their days and strive to survive, lacking in morality as the conflict drags on.

The portrayal of the Iraq conflict as perpetual is evident throughout the film, one large indicator would ultimately prove to be the introductory quote, in which states; “War is a drug.” This statement would prove to symbolize the longevity of the conflict, hence it being a “drug”.

The film ultimately explicates the stress and complication of being a soldier; being faced with numerous moral actions daily and having to live with such consequences.
